Last month
Sam Beam and
Calexico laid down seven tracks for an upcoming EP titled
Lays in the Reigns. The EP and a supporting US tour are expected in the Fall of 2005. According to Calexico's website: "Featured songs include the hypnotic rendition of 'He lays in the reigns' with special guests Salvador Duran on vocals en espanol and percussion ala botas as well as Wavelab's Nick Luca on reverse delayed wurlitzer, the swamp rock fueled 'Red Dirt' with Wavelab's Craig Schumacher on blues harp and the romping piano and horn driven 'History of Lovers' just to name a few."
