Geoff Barrow of Portishead revealed to BBC 6 Music that the band is in the process of writing a third album, their first in eight years. Barrow denies rumors the band split up and claims, "even though we haven't played for years, we still see each other and write - we just haven't released a record for a long time." The band will play with Massive Attack at Oxfam's Tsunami concert at Bristol Academy on February 19, but will not introduce any new material. The performance will feature Beth Gibbons on vocals with an acoustic backing. So far there are no details regarding a release date for the new album.
