The most downloaded song on iTunes for
the artist known as Courtney Love is, "Don't Mix the Colors" from the
Kill Rock Stars compilation. It's a great song, but then this queen of grunge pictured to the left had nothing to do with it.
Courtney love (the band), featuring Olympia, WA based Lois Maffeo and drummer Pat Maley, wrote and recorded the song during their brief existence as a band (1990-91). What makes this story the funniest you've heard all week is that Dave Navarro included the track in his celebrity playlist on iTunes, with the comment, "[n]ice to hear Courtney doing something different in this acoustic artsy jam." Clearly Dave "Genius" Navarro, along with oodles of iTunes customers, has mistaken the band for the troubled widow of Kurt Cobain. Uh huh, that cackle you hear in the distance is Lois Maffeo and Pat Maley laughing all the way to the bank. Too bad for Courtney that she can't claim any of the royalties, as it looks like she could really use the money --
the house she bought for Cobain's family may soon be foreclosed.
