Hunter S. Thompson (1937-2005)

I read the news today, oh boy. No one could express the way he lived his 67 years better than he...

"We'd be fools not to ride this strange torpedo to the end."
- Hunter S. Thompson, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

"Being shot out of a cannon is always better than being squeezed through a tube."
- Hunter S. Thompson, Kingdom of Fear

Read about his life here.

Mr. Thompson lived as he chose and died as he chose. Good for him. Don't lament him, read his books.....

once upon a time
the pages were clean and white
the lines were straight and margins clear
and our post-war scribes marched
single file through the village

one

line

at

a

time

then the end.
when the red wolf came
screaming into the world
blood fur dripping...

fear and loathing

fangs and claws ripping
pages to shreds
carving the day into our flesh

too many years
hidden away
howling in the distance
sending shivers

"I'm still here"

red wolf in the world
somewhere close - unseen
keeping the village on edge

can't find him
can't hurt him
can't hunt him
can't see him

red wolf fell on his own claws
and howls no more

the villagers miss the howl
the villagers miss the shiver

mourn the end
the rampage is over.

Goodbye! Gonzo! It's me sweet!
too late as usual you are in my prayers
I am sufficed in saying that I really missed you didn't I Hunter? Although you knew that I was out there!
That's OK you will live on especially through Mr.Depp! I can see that you've already left a great part of yourself with him! And now that you are gone
physically that! Can only grow!I guess that's how we all carry on through other people!A great writer can never
fade away because one thing I have noticed all through history is that they just keep coming back!!!!!
I love ya hunter! It was your dry wit running commentary that helped shape my own writers voice without you and what you'd written I never would have expanded beyond where I am now!
I wish I could have expressed this to you say Friday!Yet I have a feeling that no amount of praise could cheer you!So on that note I am offically saying goodbye! And thanx for praising sweet through it all!!
