The Janis Joplin estate recently announced major plans to cash in on the late singer's celebrity. First, there will be an American Idol style reality show named, "Search for the Pearl." The show will attempt to find a replacement for one of the most unique voices and personalities in Rock and Roll. The contestant bold enough to assume the title of the new Pearl will headline a tour with Joplin's old bands, Big Brother & The Holding Company, the Kozmic Blues Band and Full Tilt Boogie Band. I know what you're thinking because I'm thinking it too...nothing good can come of this. Oh, but wait, just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, the Joplin estate kicks the deceased crooner's memory around some more with plans for a Penelope Spheeris directed biopic starring of all people, Pink.
