When Gary Louris and Mark Olson announced their current mini-tour many
Jayhawks fans hoped it was a prelude to Olson's return to the band. Sadly, it appears that the tour is one last hoorah for the singing partners. Louris said recently, "I don't think we're going to do anything else. We felt like we've done
that enough. Everybody just wants to do something else. We haven't completely
closed the door, but it's pretty damn close ... I'd say it's dead."
We can't be entirely sure that we'll never hear from The Jayhawks again. Louris does leave the door cracked a little and Jayhawks manager Russell Carter told the Minneapolis Star Tribune, "It's true they're moving on to other things, but my personal feeling is that the Jayhawks are just too strong an entity to ever go away permanently."
The Minneapolis Star Tribune story is much better than the AP story floating around, so if you're interested in a more comprehensive look at the band's demise look
here. There's an annoying registration process, but it's free.
