Michael Robertson, who founded MP3.com, which came under legal fire from the RIAA, is launching a new digital music service called "MP3Tunes."
The service will primarily help fans access independent labels or unsigned artists. MP3tunes reportedly has rights to nearly 200,000 songs. However, Robertson has not announced any major label licenses at this time. In this writer's opinion, MP3.com was a better service before it started offering major label recordings. My advice to Michael is to stick to the independents and avoid the legal hassles that come when dealing with the big guys.
