Dishwalla looking to take roller coaster back to top

To promote the recent release of their self-titled album, alternative rockers Dishwalla will be performing at the Six Flags amusement park in Gurnee, Ill., on Sunday, June 5, at 5 p.m.

Dishwalla's 1996 debut album, Pet Your Friends, included the hit the band is best-known for, "Counting Blue Cars." Since the debut album, the band has endured the ups and downs synonymous with the music industry and in the process, garnered a solid following. Lead singer JR Richards, guitarist Rodney Cravens, bassist Scott Alexander, keyboardist Jim Wood and drummer Pete Maloney have survived record company musical chairs, countless musical trends and even the curious challenge of having their very own smash hit right out of the box. The new CD is, in the words of the group's JR Richards, "Very representative of our whole journey." "Collide," the first single from Dishwalla is moving up the alternative charts.

The first 200 people to purchase a select CD at any area Sam Goody or Media Play store will gain access to the park and concert. No word on whether you'll need to be a certain height to get into the show.
