eBay removes Live 8 tickets

Reacting to outrage by Live 8 organizer/founder Bob Geldof over folks selling their tickets to the London show, eBay has now banned the sale of tickets to the event. Bowing to pressure, eBay reversed course after initially saying they would allow the sale citing the individual owner's right to sell the ticket.

Sir Bob referred to the eBay ticket sellers as "wretches."

A quick search didn't turn up any remaining tickets on eBay, but plenty of Live 8 related items remain for sale. Hopefully those selling the items will donate them to the proper charities.

Comments:
now i know what it takes to get someone on the phone at ebay- get knighted
i don't see the moral disaster associated w/ reselling a ticket won by lottery -unless these were free to begin with- which they may have been

No doubt. Bobby loves all of the benefits that a free market society brings, but doesn't want people to re-sale his tickets?

What a complete and total WACK JOB!

All this does is move the supply of concert tickets to less reputable and dodgier supply chains.
