Superproducer Rick Rubin has
signed on for Metallica's next record. Rubin, who founded both Def Jam and Def American records, has a
long history of hitmaking working with everyone from the Beastie Boys and Run DMC to System of a Down and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The collaboration comes as no suprise to this blogger. Rubin and Lars Ulrich have been friends for many years. The duo surfaced together at an after hours party in my hotel suite in LA back in 1990 when I was hanging on Sunset Strip as the unofficial "shot roadie" for the band Backtalk. The only surprise is that they haven't done this sooner.
