New Payola Scandal

New York Attorney General Elliot Spitzer has his eye on major radio conglomerates in the latest phase of his payola investigation.

Spitzer says evidence gathered in the case name artists such as Jessica Simpson, Celine Dion, Maroon 5, Good Charlotte, Franz Ferdinand, Switchfoot, Michelle Branch and R.E.M. Some of these make perfect sense as to why a record company would need to pay someone to play these songs but, Franz Ferdinand? Are you telling me their "hype" wasn't on merit and that marketing slicksters manipulated us into thinking these guys are a great band?

The lesson here kids is that next time you hear a "popular" song on the radio and you pause thinking its really not that good - there's a reason for your thought - its not.
