All winter, rumors of a Smashing Pumpkins reunion filling the headlining spots of one or more of this summer's music festivals refused to disappear from the musical gossip wire. With the lineups announced, the only place to catch the Pumpkins this summer will be on a rerun of the "Hullabalooza" episode of
The Simpsons.
All is not for naught though, as Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin are reportedly set to enter the studio to record a new Smashing Pumpkins album. With James Iha and D'Arcy Wretzky not scheduled to participate in the sessions, let the debate begin as to whether the result will truly be a "Smashing Pumpkins" album.
