Upcoming Releases

While the release of the new Guns N' Roses album continues to lodge in the realm of urban legend, not every rock and roll band leaves their fans in limbo with respect to their new music. With the certainty and standard deviation to be expected from your typical rocker, here's what to expect in the near future.

Red Hot Chili Peppers: Stadium Arcadium, the long awaited follow-up to 2002s By The Way, will hit stores on May 9. Far from a case of "writer's block," the delays in completing the Rick Rubin produced double album resulted from an outpouring of creative energy that yielded an abundance of material. An arena tour to support the album will likely kick off in Europe before returning to America in late summer.

Umphrey's McGee: The Midwestern jamband's third studio release for String Cheese Incident's Sci Fidelity Records, Safety In Numbers, should be released on April 4. While always difficult to capture the spontaneity of live performances inside the studio, the album will attempt to do just that with well-rehearsed live songs like "Believe The Lie" and "Women Wine and Song."

Kid Rock: With a cover photo and title paying homage to fellow Michigan rocker Bob Seger, Kid Rock's live album Live Trucker will drop on February 28. For those who won't be satisfied with live versions of standout tracks from Kid's Devil Without A Cause and self-titled follow-up, a new studio album is in the works to be optimally released later this year.

Matisyahu: The Hassidic reggae star will release his first studio album, Youth, on March 7. Although "King Without A Crown" appeared on his debut release Live At Stubbs, the rest of the tracks on Youth have been previously unavailable. Matisyahu's combination of Jewish symbolism with Jamaican beats comes without precedent and will be celebrated by a two night run at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom.

Ten Mile Tide: The country and southern rock influenced Ten Mile Tide will release their self-titled CD in early March. Although already available through their web site, the west coast sextet will be celebrating the CD release with a March 3 party at San Francisco's Connecticut Yankee.
