Musicians On Call 2nd Annual Benefit Auction

Rob Thomas and Gavin DeGraw will perform on April 10 at Sotheby's auction house in New York City as part of the festivities at Musicians On Call's second annual benefit auction. The auctioned items will include signed memorabilia from Paul Simon, Bon Jovi, Ringo Starr and Nelly, a trip to see Barry Manilow in Las Vegas and a Maroon 5 studio tour. Last year's benefit featured John Mayer playing a wonderful set including a cover of Jimi Hendrix' "Axis Bold Of Love."

Michael Solomon and Vivek Tiwary founded Musicians On Call within the course of their volunteer work at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. After a concert at Cancer Center, the issue was raised that some of the patients were too sick to attend the performance. In response, Solomon, Tiwary and the other musicians grabbed their instruments and proceeded to go to each patient's room to perform for them. Noting the connection that the music (and musicians) made with the patients and their families, Solomon and Tiwary created Musicians On Call.

Musicians On Call provides bedside performances for bedridden patients, maintains a "CD Pharmacy" for patients' use and give patients an opportunity to record with musicians through Project Playback. Artists like Donald Fagen, Norah Jones, Amos Lee and Rockapella's Sean Altman have brought their musical talents to various healthcare facilities in support of Musicians On Call.

Tickets are available though the Musicians On Call hotline (212) 741-2709 for $250, $500 and $1,000. Help out if you can!
