Sopranos, Failure to Launch and other reviews

The Sopranos are back for a sixth season. Beyond a great synopsis, World Wide Glen, picks up on Bruce Springsteen's tour plans to make predictions about Little Steven Van Zandt's character Silvio Dante.

Failure to Launch gets a "C" from Film School Rejects who say its a solid date movie, but warn you not to expect anything new from the film. Some say predictability has its place. And, given Failure's Number One placement in the box office over the weekend it seems many may agree.

Dravens99 gives the bottomline on the Libertine:

"An intriguing film, not to all tastes, as proven by the walkouts during my screening. Depp gives a fascinating performance, and proves his willingness to un-glamorize himself as the character deteriorates from his disease riddled body. More than that, as much as you wanted to dislike the character, he was alluring, making this movie a must see. If for nothing other than the lead performance, it is worth the time, but there is a lot to like here."

International Walnut looks at "The Hills Have Eyes" and compares it to Wes Craven's original:

"Aja's version of the film amplifies the nuclear testing angle hinted at in Craven’s original, commenting on the U.S. Government's willingness to sacrifice innocent citizens for the sake of nuclear science. However, the film really stumbles over what seemed like its initial approach to this material when it mutates into what looks like a violent advertisement for patriotism, and then thusly, falls flat on its disfigured face."
