Kurt Cobain was voted the Greatest Hero In Rock 'N' Roll history by the readers of the British music magazine,
NME. The Nirvana frontman, who apparently killed himself in 1994 at just 27 years old, beat out relatively young upstarts like Pete Doherty and Carl Barat to top the list. Rock and roll hereos who've had trememndous careers were further down the list with rock legends Keith Richards, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash and Paul McCartney barely making into the top 50.
The top ten is as follows:
1: KURT COBAIN
2: PETE DOHERTY
3: MORRISSEY
4: LIAM GALLAGHER
5: CARL BARAT
6: THOM YORKE
7: NOEL GALLAGHER
8: DAVID BOWIE
9: IAN BROWN
10: IAN CURTIS
Pete Doherty at #2? Are you kidding? The guy has some talent, but lets get real when we talk about his place in rock history. Maybe they should have drug tested the people answering the survey.
