Fans of Chris Daughtry are distraught over their man getting voted off American Idol. Like Bo Bice fans from the year before, Daughtry followers smell conspiracy.
One fan - writing as "shedaisy" on MrDaughtry.com (one of several message boards and forums devoted to Daughtry) - says: "American Idol is washed up. When pure raw talent like Chris Daughtry get voted off d[ue] to phone malfunctions which is the only means of winning ... then FOX Network is to blame. America and Canada need to boycott Fox entirely and it begins now."
"Nikki9962" wrote: "Idol just lost a dedicated fan last night!! I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way. I think America is also shocked at the result."
Other fans were less conspiratorial and blamed the show's format, reminding their peers that the show is seekign a "pop" star and not a "rock" star. But, even among that group some took aim at the show. "Devious1" fired at Ryan Seacrest: "Seacrest is a talentless never-was and I've had all I can take of that metro-moron."
And,
as has happened before, speculation about the show being fixed rumbled across the net after the announcement that Daughtry was going home. "Guest_tiggerpets_*" wrote: "American Idol is fixed!! I will NEVER watch it again. By kicking Chris off, they have lost many loyal fans."
It remains to be seen how the show's ratings will be impacted by the latest controversial vote.
