Grizzled metal vet James Hetfield recently gushed over being named as an honoree by a music charity organization. Tomorrow night the Fund will present the Metallica frontman with the Stevie Ray Vaughn Award for his dedication and support of the MusiCares MAP Fund, which helps people in the music industry receive addiction treatment.
In a recent interview with MP3.com, Hetfield placed the charity honor in context of the many music awards he's earned over the years. He
says, "I noticed I've been inviting everyone I know to this thing as opposed to the Grammys or some other awards show. It's very different. I guess I never thought of inviting family to other stuff. But this is obviously something I'm more proud of. It's more of a lifestyle instead of an accolade of what you've accomplished. This is more internal for me."
The award ceremony will feature performances by a host of special musical guests including Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney, as well as Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo.
