Springsteen on Katrina Response: "criminal ineptitude"

Performing at Jazzfest this weekend in New Orleans, Bruce Springsteen spoke out on the still struggling Gulf Coast area. He's quoted as saying "I saw sights I never thought I'd see in an American city. The criminal ineptitude makes you furious." Springsteen seemed to address the New Orleans situation directly with a slightly altered cover of Ry Cooder's "How can a poor man stand such times and live?"

Besides superstars like Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Buffett & Elvis Costello, organizers of the event say that Louisiana musicians compromised approximately 90% of a line-up.

Comments:
Bruce also dedicated a song to "President Bystander"

What else would you expect from this great man, singer, husband, father, the most compassionate man to his family and fans... Please don't forget Australia...and what about Perth, We would love you have you here...
