"Blink And They're Gone"
Just when you thought the end was near, Tom Delonge of the now defunct Blink-182, rises out of the smoke and devastation of the candy-punk band's breakup and starts fresh with
Angels And Airwaves. Boasting a roster of talent including: Box Car Racer guitarist David Kennedy, former Distillers bassist Ryan Sinn, and Atom Willard, formerly of Rocket from the Crypt and the Offspring on the drums, Angels And Airwaves is no superstar side project. It's the heart and soul of Delonge. Delonge's vocals evoke pure comfort from the listener as they ease through your body.
With Blink-182, Delonge quickly rose to the top of the music world. The band of half-naked hooligans crashed on the scene and simply took over. With their outrageous performances and brash behavior Blink won countless awards and sold millions of albums worldwide. But what kept fans coming back wasn't just the reckless abandon with which the band played: it was the lyrics ranging from heartbreaking romance and sharp wit to the absurdly comedic. Angels And Airwaves benefits from the lyrical talent Delonge mastered in Blink-182 and yet this new stuff is a far cry from the pop-punk fans have come to expect from him.
We Don't Need To Whisper is a smooth, relaxing ride through the senses. Mixing rhythmic guitar, bass, and hard-hitting drums with electronica, Angels And Airwaves have a sound worthy of being compared to U2. Listening to
We Don't Need To Whisper is like slipping into the arms of your lover, it's a warm embrace that you hope never lets go. Best listened in a room with the lights dimmed, the record is as steady as a refreshing spring shower. Even with ten tracks, the 50-minute album is over too soon and will leave you begging for more.
Need to unwind after a hard day in the office? Pop in this debut record, press play, and let the lilting melodies alleviate your stress.
